Building Better Brangus Genetics

Third Coast Brangus is a registered Brangus cattle operation on the Texas Gulf Coast.  We bought our first set of Brangus cows in 2011 and things escalated quickly from there.  The adaptability of the Brangus breed for our climate less than 20 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico, along with the carcass characteristics, provided cattle that brought value and longevity. 

Not long after the original purchase, our children- Kyler and Nash, began showing cattle.  This chapter of our lives was spent with a lot of time on the roads and allowed us to meet many fellow Brangus breeders from across the United States and beyond.  We were fortunate to be able to purchase some great animals for the kids through the years and bring home some awesome titles.  Our time spent in the show rings educated us on the phenotypical quality that was out there.  We wanted to combine that with the production we had at home.  Style and performance.

It was decided that it was time to grow- the size of our herd, the quality of our herd and the market for the cattle that we raise.  Long term goals were set with sustainability for generations to come at the focal point.  In order to do so, we had to improve our genetics to be able to provide replacement heifers and bulls that looked and performed at a level that we had not experienced before.  Not long after we started this journey, we decided to throw one more hurdle in the mix- carcass quality.  Beef is what the consumer is most interested in.  We knew that however we marketed our animals, beef was the end game.  Third Coast Brangus beef is available for purchase by the carcass or by the pound.

The fundamentals are there with the Brangus breed- Production, Longevity, Carcass Quality and Adaptability.  These traits bring profitability.
